Would you like to play a looter shooter that has all the multiplayer shootin’ and lootin’ you could want along with an expertly crafted story? You would? Well, BioWare tried to deliver that with Anthem. You can, of course, raise many questions about whether or not the game did indeed have an expertly crafted story or all the shootin’ and lootin’ you could want, but according to the creative director of Dragon Age: The Veilguard, the experience taught BioWare to stick to what the studio is good at.
The good part is that means the upcoming title is indeed a single-player RPG with no multiplayer, no microtransactions, and no distractions. The bad part is… well, it does kind of suggest that the problem was Anthem’s basic format rather than the idea that maybe Anthem itself wasn’t a very good project. Regardless, that title is four years deep in the ground, but it is interesting to see that Anthem did have some lingering impacts on BioWare as a company.
