While we’re in the early part of January 2025, Monsters & Memories developer Niche Worlds Cult is looking back at developments made in November and December of last year, with a whole lot of updates and additions made as one might expect out of a two month-sized progress report.

The post opens with data shared from stress tests held at the end of 2024, which saw up to 1,300 players in-game at its highest point, 377 total players crammed into one zone, and what appears to be a fairly even spread among class and race selections. The studio also remarked on the various award wins and nominations it got (including a nomination for our Indie MMO of the Year) and put together a video summary of its 2024 work.

The rest of the post recounts multiple additions including concept artwork for new items and locations, model updates for various monsters and gear pieces, shader and fog effect updates, an upgrade to Unity Engine 6, and a sizeable list of adjustments to the MMORPG’s classes and professions. The post closes with thanks to supporters, the promise of more testing this year, and the possibility of new job openings. For now, there are lots of year-end additions to leaf through.
