Leaderboard: Have you tried Albion Online?
There's something about Albion Online that appeals to me. I like the top-down perspective and the stylized visuals, and of course I love the fact that it's a sandbox and that it's borrowing ideas (and even a designer) from EVE Online.
On the other hand, it's free-to-play, and we all know how that worked out for the last sandbox that...
EVE Online plans to let players buy and sell skillpoints
EVE Online has always been pretty unique in the MMO genre, not least of all due to its time-based skill training system. Instead of earning experience or skills through gameplay, EVE characters train skills in realtime even when you're not logged in. This approach made a lot of sense for a subscription-based MMO back in 2003, but it's not...
LOTRO players host RP and music event this Saturday
If you don't have plans this Saturday, consider swinging over to Lord of the Rings Online, where a group of players will be holding Archet Aid 4. This annual community event on the Laurelin server combines roleplaying, music, and activities for any and all who attend in the burned-out hamlet of Archet.
"The Archet Aid Fayre starts at 12:30 p.m. servertime...

Echo of Soul update brings in the Warlock
The soft-launched Echo of Soul has a new player on the scene today, as Aeria Games introduced its six class, the Warlock.
Warlocks can specialize in the Tormentor or Reaper line and use a mix of melee and ranged attacks to put enemies down. The studio really wants you to try the class out, too, as it will reward anyone...
RIFT’s design team answers player questions on Reddit
In 1964, Bob Dylan released "The Times They Are A-Changin'," and he could very well have been talking about RIFT. Sure, the odds are low since the song was released 51 years ago, the game didn't exist, and the odds that Dylan knew about all the changes the game had gone through recently that far in advance seem highly...
Albion is getting a tie-in novel and a lore revamp
Sandbox Interactive posted a lore blurb about Albion this week. The piece highlights an NPC faction called the Royal Expeditionary Forces, which the devs say are the first faction encountered by players upon entering the game world. The REF is further split into sub-factions, with each one possessing different types of missions.
Albion is currently undergoing a massive lore revamp,...
Devilian’s dungeons include multiple difficulty levels, LFG system, CBT starts next week
Believe it or not, Devilian will feature a lot of grouping as part of its dungeon mechanics. Trion Worlds promises that when it comes time for players to jump into an instance, they'll be aided by a useful party matching tool to get them with others and into the thick of the fight right away.
The party matching tool will...

Bossa Studios boss on Worlds Adrift’s business model, PvP, and more
I've been keeping one eye on Worlds Adrift for several months now, as many of the concepts put forth by developer Bossa Studios are right up my gameplay alley. Sandbox? Check. Real physics? Check. Airships and grappling hooks? Oh yes!
I had some questions for the devs, though, including how they plan to keep an open PvP world from devolving...
