WildStar launches the Power of the Primal Matrix on March 8

Ready to start getting even more powerful after you hit the level cap in WildStar? You can do exactly that with the game’s Power of the Primal Matrix update, and that’s going live on March 8th. The patch brings in the eponymous Primal Matrix, allowing you to collect Essence from various in-game activities and then turn those into more power. Run faster, jump higher, destroy your foes with a blast of eldritch fire from your eyes, all that fun stuff.

The patch also contains two new instances to run and the new Prime difficulty, which is even more difficult than previous difficulties. (It may also allow instances to lead the Autobots, although that hasn’t been tested yet.) Check it out for yourself when the whole shindig goes live on March 8th.

Wildstar is in this really crappy position where it’s a total catch 22. People actually want to play it, several guild mates talk about it frequently, but everyone knows it’s been in dire financial straits for a while now, and they don’t want to waste their time playing something that is likely to be cancelled.

It’s a truly crappy position to be in.

I better log in so that I can give the one player left some one to compete against.

All joking aside how is tanking in this game, GW2 has really pissed me off with their shitty balancing and toxic endgame community so I might as well give another game a shot. Is the combat comparable to GW2 or less actiony?

Tanking in wild star is fun, I’ve done it with an engineer and it satisfies my tanking needs.

Just as GW2 there is a tab targeting mode and a mouse look mode(this is the action combat mode where the camera moves where your cursor is). Unlike GW2 this game still uses the tank, dps, healer set up, which I thought I didn’t like but actually love(talk about not knowing what you have until you lose it).

Wildstar probably has the most engaging/actiony combat of any MMO on the market.

Absolutely worth giving it a shot if you’re after action combat in your game – its free to play.

GW2 is as action as I can take.

I reinstalled WS and am leveling a medic. Still a fun game. I’m not sure if this’ll be the time I finally manage to break into the endgame, though, or if I’ll fizzle out like the previous attempts.

Welp, guess I’m probably loading up WS this weekend.

“Okay, the games tanking how do we invigorate it?… GOT IT, PLANAR ATTUNEMENTS, surely Trions ideas can get us out the fire!”

To be fair Trion’s running a much more successful company so it wouldn’t hurt; but then that would be like Syria taking advice from North Korea.

Alternatively, you could look to the MMO’s that implemented alternate advancement systems before Trion put in Planar Attunements.

Also, there’s from a design standpoint Planar Attunements are still solid. It hasn’t been ruined by what Trion has turned into…yet.

Post-cap character progression is a powerful tool for player retention, and the way this is designed it’s both a monetization tool and a way to keep folks engaged in a variety of content. It’s pretty great design from what I’ve seen, actually.
