Meta: Twitch’s SUBtember promo helps Massively OP stream!

Massively OP is a Twitch Partner, meaning that our supporters are able to subscribe to our Twitch streaming channel, which puts money directly into our pocket and supports our stream team’s live antics. In fact, if you’re an Amazon Prime participant with a linked Twitch account, you get one free sub every month, and some of you grant your freebie to us. And we love you for it!

If you don’t already sub to us on Twitch, however, and you’ve been wanting to, then Twitch’s SUBtember promotion would be a good time to do it. Until October 2nd, anyone who subs to any channel on Twitch for the first time at any tier will pay only half of the usual fee for that month – while the Partner channel receives the full benefit. In other words, you could sub for $2.50 and we’ll still get our full cut, and then you can blissfully surf without having to deal with ads while drinking the PSL you just bought with the money you saved.

If you don’t care at all about Twitch, no problem! You can still support Massively OP directly through Patreon, using our Amazon affiliate link, whitelisting our ads, or even just posting our best stuff to Reddit and social media. It all helps us stay online and actually pay our writers for their work. Thanks for your support!

I’m not sure if I’ve ever seen or heard you guys talk about the Twitch sub option for supporting MOP on the main site or the podcast. Presumably, most of us who want to support MOP have done so through Patreon or Amazon affiliate things, but this option always seemed to be the least known option.

Maybe you don’t want to plaster a bunch of ways to give you money all over the website, but it seems like a lot of people have unused free Amazon Prime subs to give out. Anyway, at least Amazon gave you a good reason to talk about it.

My Mom has an Amazon Prime account in my Father’s name (he was killed in an accident almost two years ago now but most of her stuff is still in his name). He didn’t use Twitch while he was here, and my Mom doesn’t use it now. I’m trying to figure out if it’s okay for me to take that free Twitch Prime account that comes with it.

It depends on whether or not you have access to the amazon account. I know there is a family option on amazon. although im not sure how it works with different addresses truth be told.

I do have access to it, I’m the keeper of the passwords pretty much. It’s in my Father’s name, though he doesn’t exist on the planet anymore – it’s technically my Mom’s account now. I have access and passwords to everything, but of course the name and emails are different.

I can and do see options that will let me try to connect them, I haven’t tried it yet tho. I do all my own Amazon orders through that account, I haven’t made my own separate profiles or anything. I guess it would probably be fine for me to use it, or at least give it a try and see what happens :D

If you’re a family member, it doesn’t work. You have to be attached to the primary, which is annoying because my wife is never going to use this. I keep missing the renewal thing to cancel and start it up in my name.

Has MJ ever thought about including fun emotes (like the MOP dude or her singing) as part of a sub? If not – you guys should. I always thought y’all should add a live cam too. Because MJ seems naturally funny (to me) it would be fun to watch her sing. my 2cents

Maybe if you bend her arm (Pun Intended :P) enough she will do it as well as accept bits.

I agree some Mo emotes would be really cool and I am sure Larry could do some good things with them.

MJ has done the odd TSW stream with a cam but I don’t think she likes them too much, which is fair enough. She still makes the streams fun enough without one :-)

yeah i wouldnt want her to do anything she didnt like. the emote though…that needs to happen.

is there any way I can subscribe, but flag money to be only spent on novelty Pez dispensers?

But MJ hasn’t streamed in a week. Currently the mop channel is hosting someones wow stream

I think Twitch was having some problems last week, and then MJ went off to cover PAX West.

So how do I even know if I’m subscribed? I know I clicked something like follow or subscribe I’m not sure. I didn’t even know subscribing cost money that seems odd to me. Well at least I have one free one to use.

follow just lets you know when the channel is online. To tell if you subbed click on the subscribe button and it will tell you how much it is to subscribe or if you have amazon prime linked it will have a clicky that says use your one complementary monthly subscription.

Here is the info https://help.twitch.tv/customer/en/portal/articles/2572060-twitch-prime-guide#option2

Yes you link your Twitch with your amazon then when you sub amazon prime you also get twitch prime.

See, I had no idea! Been an Amazon Prime subscriber for years.

But what this says is that as a Twitch Prime member, which you get for “free” as an Amazon Prime member – you get one free ‘Subscribe” twitch channel. Subscribers to channels generally get more access, discord channels, emotes and more attention from streamers.

cheers

edit: I’ve been a Twitch Prime member for about a year and only recently relized I get a free channel sub as a result. You get to change who it is passed to – or keep it the same – every month. It is pretty cool and puts money in the pockets of streamers.
