Life is Feudal MMO starts early access on January 11

Have plans for next week? Life is Feudal MMO would kindly request that you make alterations to your schedule to accommodate the launch of its early access program on January 11th.

Not to be confused with the Your Own sandbox, Life is Feudal MMO is, well, the full-fledged MMORPG that uses the same basic setup but in a much larger and more socially expansive environment. The MMO takes place in a 21-square kilometer world with changing weather, time of day, and seasons.

The big hook of this game is that every structure aside from the starting town will be shaped and built by players. The studio released a video to show how players could conceivably go from a humble hut to a grand castle over the course of their adventures.

Is this true? The devs haven’t said anything about it. I’d be surprised if they went steam release without a wipe.

dont think its ready. Mass pvp is kinda fucked since launch(too much lag to be played)

Wanted to like this one…played for a while but eventually got tired of the maintenance required to own property. If you don’t want to own a house or other property by yourself in this one, LiF can be a blast. Guild activities can be fun:) Active dev team.

I might give it a go. There’s a lot about LiF that appeals – the aesthetic, the absence of magic, the large world, the terraforming and building/crafting. Set against that is the necessary focus on grouping/co-operation and the potential impacts of poor latency from NZ. Until recently I would have given anything in EA a wide berth, but my positive experience with Conan Exiles has made me a tad less dismissive.

I thought LiF is Bitbox and Conan was Funcom?

Yeah that’s right, but I was talking about my becoming more open to Early Access in general, rather than just Early Access games from a specific developer.

Oh, doh, I read “EA” as “Electronic Arts”. Never mind, I understand now :)

What prevents others from coming and tearing it all down while I’m offline? How does it differ from Wurm in terms of grind?

The PVP events are the only time personal claims are vulnerable, and guild realm claims *outer portion of a guild’s area, the inner portion is only vulnerable under siege systems not yet implemented* (guild claims requiring the effort of a battle totem.)

The developers are actually restricting a lot of the abusive behaviors because they realize that allowing them means a dead game. Their words when ‘PvP’ *I translate this case to ganker scumbag* people whined were to the effect of “If we don’t do things to allow people who have other goals to have fun, because you are constantly attacking them, then the game is dead.”

That doesn’t mean it’s completely safe or anything, but a lot of the worst behaviors have either been patched out or are ban-worthy offenses that they will follow up on. (Like glitching through walls or running code to change things.)

I quit playing when a group of players used a pretty easy exploit to get into walls we had spent hours creating to kill us over and over in their words “for fun”. This wasn’t during judgement hour and when we reported them to GMs they replied with “life is feudal”.

To me, even though the graphics are worse, you’ll have a better time with Wurm Online or Unlimited because it offers more in terms of building and things to do.

Hmmm, on the MMO? Because that’s certainly not what I’ve seen there. YO is… well, it’s own thing.

You have a monument you can settle wherever you want. It makes an aura that makes invulnerable everything inside.
Nowadays you cannot lose anything inside the aura.
The aura gets bigger so you can add more buildings.
Game is ok but pvp in this case is player vs pinetrees or player vs pickaxe

Eh, I haven’t had an issue finding a battle if I want one. Although the hours are bad for me as I’m working nights now.

Except during judgement hour.

No, by now, you cannot destroy all that is inside the stronger aura.
We are now during judgement hour and you cannot destroy the castles or terraform the area.

If you were truly committed, you wouldn’t go offline.

:P
