Black Desert makes life skill benefits account-wide in today’s PC update

In case you haven’t noticed, Pearl Abyss is on a massive campaign this quarter to improve the public’s perception of Black Desert with one quality-of-life upgrade after another, chiefly to the game’s enhancement systems. This week’s QOL boost is a pass on family-based lifeskills.

“Life Skill levels, which were previously character based, are now Family based,” Pearl Abyss explains in the patch notes. “With this update, every character in a Family can enjoy the effects and benefits provided by each Life Skill, which will also make certain quests a lot more convenient to complete. (Skills such as Sprint, Forest Rush, and BreezySail are now also Family based.) This integration was done by adding the EXP of each Life Skill, instead of consolidating to the highest levels achieved in a Family, which has essentially increased the level of each Life Skill for most adventurers.”

Players who’ve already reached Guru 50 will not be unhappy either as the team says it’s “preparing ways to reward you with honor based rewards.” The patch notes also herald improvements to the music composition system and simplified traces, essences, and fruits, and earlier this week the team announced its new BDO ambassadors.
