Darkfall makes ‘massive changes to combat,’ removes chaos banks

While my definitions were legally accurate...

Well, Darkfall is blowing itself up again. Aventurine’s latest update, titled Darkfall Reload, describes a patch that isn’t quite as dramatic as the Unholy Wars reboot, but it’s still chock-full of changes. Chief among those are “massive changes to combat,” including a sweeping rework/removal of the game’s crowd control mechanics.

Chaos banks and outposts have been removed, too, and the devs have added a new clan perk system and leaderboards.

davidemo89 I think I know what I played, but for your sake, here’s a source: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Darkfall
Game launched only with a European server Feb 2009. NA server came out July 2009. That is… not one month. At all. Talk to any of the launch guilds, especially the European ones without English speaking allies (if you can ;P ). Darkfall’s early game was very international with one server.

hardy83 Orontos As several people here says, they have a loyal player base and a subscription is way better when the loyal player base is all you’ve got, it’s just not big enough to live of buy to play and it never will be.

And in my opinion it doesn’t have much competition in the genre, there are extremely few PvP sandbox MMORPG’s (luckily for Darkfall, if there were then it probably wouldn’t exist), it’s not like they are competing against World of Warcraft.
There’s basically no PvP sandbox MMORPG worth playing except Eve, but Eve isn’t for everyone.

It has never an international server. There were two servers form the first darkfal.
Only the first month of release there was one server.

Honestly, I loved the original Darkfall. One big, international server that always had something going on in it. It really reminded me of why I love MMOs until I got too deep into the politics (got kicked out from a lead guild because I had to study for a graduate level test… and the guy that kicked me was also supposedly working on an MA -_-  ). I don’t know… things started to go downhill once they opened a second server. It’s hard to get that first “M” in “MMO” right after you’ve experienced some of the less instance based MMOs.

Let me know when melee combat isn’t holding down sprint and running in a figure 8 pattern trying to hit the enemy as you fly by.

hardy83 AdeptusEnginus I’m not a fan of the game but I at least can respect them for sticking with it and building the game they want to make instead of  selling out and going after the bigger audience with a more generic game model.

The market would be a better place if people didn’t think small was bad and only the biggest is worth playing.
