Warcraft movie’s Elves bring all the ears to the yard

When it comes to next year’s Warcraft motion picture, we’ve certainly gotten our fill of seeing both Orcs and humans. But what about the other races?

One eagle-eyed observer spotted a few additional portraits of characters from the movie, including a “mage” and an Elf. If you were worried that the proper proportions of elvish eyebrows and ears would be misrepresented, you can rest easy. They’re still obnoxiously long.

A commenter explained what’s going on with these photos: “There is an exhibition of the movie these days in Chengdu. I think the poorly photoshopped pictures along with the vague description might be simply used as the a brief introduction to audience who are not familiar with Warcraft.”

BrotherMaynard nshelton However they do take a trip to Dalaran in the movie at some point, from the looks of it.  So it could be that Elves are present there, as there were a few High Elves who served as part of the Council of the Six (at least during the Second War, Krasus and Kael’thas were both council members; it’s possible they were on the council during the First War as well).  And it’s not like the Kirin Tor shunned Elves or anything.

Bannex19 Something most people seem to not understand with the first trailer is that the trailer wasn’t really aimed at Warcraft fans specifically – it was aimed at a much broader movie-watching audience.  Thus there were a lot of handpicked clips and voice lines thrown together to make the story sound like something it really isn’t, as the plot will still revolve around Warcraft 1’s campaign.

PurpleCopper From the way it sounds, the Orcs will still very much be evil (outside of Durotan who’s always been a good guy lore-wise and then Garona who’s been kind of a good person but forced to do bad stuff) as they’ll still be led by Blackhand at the start.  Plus Gul’dan will be there of course.
The cinematic trailer was pretty much just handpicked clips thrown together to be like a cliche movie synopsis for those who are unfamiliar with Warcraft.  But story-wise it sounds like it’ll be going through the plot of Warcraft: Orcs & Humans.

Aw man, I was hoping that that Orcs would be evil fuckers like they were in Warcraft 1 & 2.

Idk I thought the trailer actually looked pretty solid. If they really follow the orc story as close as the human story it would be extremely rare for a major Hollywood production to have 2 A stories in a movie making it quite refreshing seeing as most are just rehashed/rebooted 3 act abc shit not worth watching.

For those who still follow the Warcraft Universe, I honestly hope they make a decent movie.
That being said however, one may remember Luke Skywalker’s reaction to seeing the Death Star the first time …”I”ve got a bad feeling about this.”  All signs, to this observer at least, point to a film which may rival In the Name of the King. Not the first one with Jason Statham and Ron Perlman, or the second, with Dolph Lundgren, but the third one, with … that guy … who did that other thing.

Yeah, THAT one.
