The Daily Grind: How do you buck the system in MMOs?

I cannot be the only player who secretly delights in small rebellions against the intended plans and designs of MMO developers. Every so often, I get a little annoyed at the limitations, guidelines, and structure of games, and I buck the system by zigging when the devs obviously want me to zag.

For example, I will proudly and stubbornly ride my goat in Lord of the Rings Online even as the game keeps throwing more horses at me right and left, including the whole mounted combat system. Were there war-goats? No, there were not. I feel like the devs are deeply ashamed that they ever put goats into the game in the first place. So I will ride that goat to the foothills of Mount Doom itself due to my ornery nature.

Do you have your little rebellions in MMOs? How do you buck the system to play the game your own way instead of the way that the devs “intended?”

Every morning, the Massively Overpowered writers team up with mascot Mo to ask MMORPG players pointed questions about the massively multiplayer online roleplaying genre. Grab a mug of your preferred beverage and take a stab at answering the question posed in today’s Daily Grind!
