Dragon’s Dogma Online is shuttering in December

Probably more friendly than Dragon's Catma.

It’s entirely possible you don’t remember Dragon’s Dogma Online. The game it was based upon, Dragon’s Dogma, is a weirdly enduring little game that still enjoys lots of popular word-of-mouth to the extent that it’s kind of easy to forget that it’s not actually part of a series, just that one game and then its expansion. The online version, meanwhile, was always confined to only being available in Japan and is now shuttering for good in December after failing to find an adequate audience.

Those who did actually play the game despite the language barriers are unsurprisingly mourning the title’s demise, along with a few wondering why it was never localized and released elsewhere. As the game never had the dedicated community of some other never-technically-localized games, it seems that any sort of preservation efforts are unlikely to gain much traction, so there’s little left to do aside from offer condolences to those losing a beloved title.
