Roblox’s latest event taps some Star Wars Rise of Skywalker transmedia synergy

All the Star Wars things, please! That’s what Roblox is dishing up right now. The kid-centered building MMO partnered with no less than Disney for a Rise of Skywalker creation event. Rise of Skywalker, of course, is some little indie flick you’ve probably never heard of, but you can likely find it in a theater or two come December 19th.

“Roblox players can design and build their very own driftspeeder to race head-to-head against other players, and unlock limited-edition virtual items, including a Stormtrooper Helmet, Rey’s Staff, and BB-8 beginning today through January 6, 2020. The Galactic Speedway Creator Challenge is the latest in Roblox’s efforts to teach coding and game design by unlocking the imagination of creators. To get items inspired by Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, participants must complete lessons that teach the foundational elements of building and publishing a game on Roblox, including game design, building and 3D modeling, scripting, and coding.”

OK, Roblox, I might just have to reinstall you for my littles again. Did I say my kids? I meant me.
