Red Dead Online’s next update will let players become a moonshiner

Alcohol is something of a necessary evil in the Wild West of Red Dead Online, but most of the time the hard stuff just sort of appears in the world. With the multiplayer mode’s upcoming update, however, players can take up the burdensome responsibility of keeping the glasses of the world topped up with the Moonshiner Frontier Pursuit.

For those who perhaps forgot, Frontier Pursuits are effectively specialist roles added to RDO that lets players unlock unique skills, items, abilities, and more as they follow their chosen vocation. Moonshiners will have the opportunity to establish a bootlegging business and eventually open up their own custom speakeasy replete with all the trappings like a country band, a dance floor, and other decor choices.

If you’re a Trader who is at least rank 5 or has completed a sell mission, you’ll be introduced to the Shiner life via an NPC who will lead you along a variety of missions to take out rival distillers, perfect your recipes, and maybe help said NPC get a measure of revenge.

All of this is due to arrive on Friday, December 13th, along with the second Outlaw Pass, new weapons and clothing, and an additional wardrobe slot. And remember, drink irresponsibly in-game but drink responsibly in meatspace.

My guild/posse is having the best time in online. Massively immersive world, constantly distracted by random events, very friendly online community. Particularly in a game that allows you to attack anyone. In weeks of play I’ve only had less than a handful of holstil actions taken by other players. It’s actually amazing.

Wish they would have pushed out singleplayer dlc instead of focusing on the online mode.

This is a remark for a different site. I mean I didn’t even try to launch single player campaign during a month I had the game. If anything Online could use more attention from the devs – it feels like a barebone early access game, after a year of “development”.

That’s wishful thinking. There was only multiplayer DLC for GTA 5. No way in hell they’ll do single player DLC for Red Dead.

((Deleted by mod. Please don’t post things like this in the MOP comments. This is NEVER acceptable. It’s not funny or welcome.))
