Pokemon Go continues Mega Events, celebrates fashion week with pokemon in top hats

Because why not?

Pokemon Go is embarking on the final part of the Mega September events we’ve previously covered, once again promoting its controversial Mega Evolution feature. Fortunately for players, the last and current event awards Mega Beedrill Energy, so if you want to participate and have a Mega Bee (or any Mega evolution) follow you around for 12 hours, you’ll be able to do so through September 28, 10 p.m. local time. (Don’t forget, this is the event that unlocks the Halloween timed research for Gengar!)

While the questline doesn’t require raiding this time, Niantic’s upcoming fashion week promotional event will. From Friday, October 2nd, 2020, to Thursday, October 8th, 2020, Smoochem wearing a bow can hatch from 7k eggs (just remember that Niantic has changed odds after the initial hatch rush). Both Kirlia and Shinx wearing a top hat are limited to raids. Kirlia also will have a new move called Draining Kiss. Whether these will once again simply be trophy pokemon that are unable to evolve is still unknown, as is Draining Kiss’s general availability on other Pokemon. (We’ve asked Niantic PR to clarify this and will update when we know for sure.) Based on recent trends and datamining, though, it may be safe to assume these pokemon will just be trophies and for gaining extra candy.
