For those who have been regularly taking on the heists available in Grand Theft Auto Online, there’s been something of an escalation in terms of targets, whether it’s helping a spy organization, stopping a tech billionaire, or hitting a highly secure casino. So where does one go from there? How about an entire island?
Rockstar has begun teasing the arrival of the Cayo Perico Heist, a new encounter that’s going to pit players against a drug dealer and his secure island.
“It’s up to you to find a way to breach Cayo Perico, one of the most secure private islands in the entire world, evade or neutralize the heavily armed security forces stationed there, and escape with valuable evidence along with as much art, gold and drug money as you can carry.”
This new heist not only sees players making way to a new location but introduces new features such as the ability to take on the heist solo or with three others, as well as acquire new weapons and new vehicles, experience new social spaces, and listen to new radio stations with over 100 new songs. Oh, and this is all being launched from a secure submarine base. You know, like normal thieves have.
The Cayo Perico Heist is set to arrive on Tuesday, December 15th. More details are due to arrive soon™, but there are some in-game teases happening regarding the location as players are seeing dead bodies wash up on shore. There’s also, of course, a teaser video to whet your appetite after the cut.
