I know full well that it’s a strange feeling when a game you’re totally not into or playing is at the center of a swirl of publicity, press, and public enthusiasm. I’ve always felt mixed about it, to be honest. On one hand, it’s annoying that the Thing You Like is being overshadowed by That Other Thing, and you wish that their fortunes were reversed.
On the other hand? A win for one MMO is a win for the entire genre, in a way. MMORPGs need as much good publicity as they can get these days, especially considering that they can’t coast by on the novelty of the format alone anymore.
What do you think? How do you feel about MMOs you’re not playing getting the public spotlight?
Every morning, the Massively Overpowered writers team up with mascot Mo to ask MMORPG players pointed questions about the massively multiplayer online roleplaying genre. Grab a mug of your preferred beverage and take a stab at answering the question posed in today’s Daily Grind!
