MMO expansions are a wonderful thing. No, seriously, I love expansions immensely. I love the feel of logging into a new expansion and hopefully finding amazing new landscapes, quests, challenges, experiences… you know, all of that fun stuff. It’s amazing. And I don’t think any long-running MMO with more than one expansion to its name doesn’t have a group of people adamantly and enthusiastically tracking the best expansion that a specific game has received, either. “Which expansion is the best expansion” is just, like… how we do things.
But today I don’t want you to figure out the best expansion for a specific game. No, I want to throw every expansion you’ve ever played into a supercollider cage match and find out your single favorite MMO expansion. Whether or not it’s the single best expansion of all time isn’t important; what matters is whether it’s your favorite. So what’s your personal absolute favorite individual MMO expansion, and why does that one stick in your memory so deeply?
