Not only am I a nerdy fan of maps in real life, but I deeply appreciate a good visual guild in my MMORPGs as well. A well-designed map not only looks aesthetically pleasing but can give me a good lay of the land and assist with travel and questing.
Then there are… the others. Those maps that clearly resent you for hitting the “M” key to bother them while they watch their soaps. Maps that are confusing, ugly, and lacking details. Maps that might even be so bad that fan sites have to take up the slack to provide replacements.
Let’s talk about the “others” today, those MMORPGs that boast sub-par — or even horrible — maps. Which games deserve to go on the hall of shame for their cheap charting?
