Every month or so, someone will ask about MMORPGs in the VR space, and every month or so, we have to nod toward a mere handful of games, the most recent and shiny of which is Zenith, which is… still a relatively small indie MMO (and one that was funded in part by PC players who have yet to get their promised version). We just haven’t seen major blockbuster MMOs in virtual reality, in spite of several bubbles and startups pushing it over the last decade. Hardware adoption seems to be slowing back down too, in spite of the PSVR hoopla of February.
Do you still have hope for a blossoming of MMORPGs in VR? What kind of MMO would you even see working on a VR platform?
Every morning, the Massively Overpowered writers team up with mascot Mo to ask MMORPG players pointed questions about the massively multiplayer online roleplaying genre. Grab a mug of your preferred beverage and take a stab at answering the question posed in today’s Daily Grind!
