The Daily Grind: Which MMO has the name that bugs you the most?

Me!

I get weirdly irritated by certain MMO names. It bugs me when games that do not have offline installments feel the need to specify that they are such-and-such online, especially when the name is not actually common otherwise. Fiesta Online makes a certain amount of sense, sure, but there is no Black Desert Offline. These words are not commonly put in juxtaposition! You don’t need extra strength for your trademark!

But then there are names that bother the heck out of me for reasons that most of the world doesn’t care about. New World, for example. Do you know how many times a week I’m typing something that includes that places those two words adjacent to one another? Would you like to guess how often the auto-tagger on our posts thinks that I must be talking about Amazon’s online bug generation engine with a game attached? A lot. It’s not a great name for a game anyway, but that definitely doesn’t endear it to me further.

But in none of these cases is the name thing in any way a meaningful critique or issue with the game itself. It’s just about the name. So which MMO has the name that bugs you the most? Regardless of whether or not it’s for any substantial reason?

Every morning, the Massively Overpowered writers team up with mascot Mo to ask MMORPG players pointed questions about the massively multiplayer online roleplaying genre. Grab a mug of your preferred beverage and take a stab at answering the question posed in today’s Daily Grind!
