The Daily Grind: What’s your favorite low-thought MMO activity?

Rock on.

I usually like to be playing an MMORPG actively, but sometimes I just want to kick back, watch a movie, and idly do something in a game that doesn’t require a whole lot of mental bandwidth. Gathering in Final Fantasy XIV is perfect for me in that regard; there are reliable loops, it has a steady and predictable pace, it requires just enough attention that I feel like I’m doing something, and there are often good reasons why I will need 900 logs to convert into lumber. It’s relaxing.

I know I’m not alone in this. I know there are people who find just leveling World of Warcraft characters to be calm, relaxing fun (and I’ve been there, too), just like I’m sure someone out there has their own personal loot caves in Destiny 2 that are relaxing low-thought runs of shooting and paying half of your attention. So what’s your favorite low-thought MMO activity? Not truly brainless, just light on the need for thought?

Every morning, the Massively Overpowered writers team up with mascot Mo to ask MMORPG players pointed questions about the massively multiplayer online roleplaying genre. Grab a mug of your preferred beverage and take a stab at answering the question posed in today’s Daily Grind!
