The Daily Grind: What MMO mechanic are you genuinely a hypocrite about?

That elephant won't bedazzle itself.

No one really wants a fair fight. We all kind of want things to be unfair in our favor. That’s just human nature. We also usually recognize that there are some things that we want to not be even-handed but should be anyway. If you can stun someone in PvP, you don’t want anyone else to be able to stun you, but you recognize that it should actually be that way in order to be fair. All fine.

But I think we all have some mechanics where even if we recognize we’re asking for things to be massively unfair, we still want them. We know that our chosen class with tons of support tools should not out-damage classes with no support tools, but we want it to. Or we want to be able to stunlock our enemies but want that to be disallowed for other players. You should be able to just get all your crafting materials cheap from a vendor, but other people should still have to buy from you. So what MMO mechanic are you genuinely a hypocrite about? It’s all right. There’s some judgment here, yeah, but we all do it.

Every morning, the Massively Overpowered writers team up with mascot Mo to ask MMORPG players pointed questions about the massively multiplayer online roleplaying genre. Grab a mug of your preferred beverage and take a stab at answering the question posed in today’s Daily Grind!
