I love me a good strong dose of nostalgia. Sometimes this happens unexpectedly, such as when I smell something that triggers a long-buried memory. But then there are the occasions that I deliberately try to get a “nostalgia fix” by listening to certain songs, watching movies, or otherwise indulging in a favorite something that I used to a long time ago.

Due to their long-running nature, MMOs can function as nostalgia time machines. My first MMO was Anarchy Online and my first real deep dive MMO was City of Heroes, and any time I revisit those titles, I’m treated to a wave of sights and sounds and good memories.

Do you ever revisit MMOs more for nostalgia than anything else? What titles give you that sensory fix more than others?

Every morning, the Massively Overpowered writers team up with mascot Mo to ask MMORPG players pointed questions about the massively multiplayer online roleplaying genre. Grab a mug of your preferred beverage and take a stab at answering the question posed in today’s Daily Grind!
