New World queues up another round of server merges this week

New World is on the verge of a fresh round of server merges, according to announcements made to players last night. “To improve the player experience, we’ll be consolidating a few game worlds,” Amazon says.

The Central EU server Hercules will merge into Canis, followed by two US-East servers, Orion and Pollux, into Octans. Really missed an opportunity there to merge Pollux and Castor into Dioscuri, but we digress.

As of early this morning, character creation on Hercules, Orion, and Pollux has already been disabled, along with transfers and wars. The merges themselves are set for Thursday, January 25th (we don’t know what time, so it could be Thursday or Friday morning EST, given how Amazon often does these things).

“All characters & companies on retiring worlds will automatically be moved to their new home world,” the studio says. It’s also refunding gold to territory-owning companies and granting automatic transfer refunds to players “who transferred within the last 14 days to/from the same worlds they were merged with.”
