The Daily Grind: When’s the last time you changed mains in an MMO?

He likes Legos.

In most MMOs, you have a main. In games like Final Fantasy XIV, it’s your main jobs. In World of Warcraft, it’s your main character. In Genshin Impact, it’s the girl or boy you have a crush on and thus keep in your party. But these things change over time, sometimes in unexpected ways. You think that you know the job/character/waifu you’re going to pick forever, and then suddenly the game adds a new tank job/new class/different girl with a sword and tall boots. And that’s it.

That doesn’t mean you necessarily change all the time, but some people do. Some people have so many alts in some games that they have main alts and secondary alts. My FFXIV character has changed main jobs a few times, but also at least one of those jobs has stayed there from the job’s introduction until now. So when was the last time you changed mains in an MMO? Was it planned or unexpected?

Every morning, the Massively Overpowered writers team up with mascot Mo to ask MMORPG players pointed questions about the massively multiplayer online roleplaying genre. Grab a mug of your preferred beverage and take a stab at answering the question posed in today’s Daily Grind!
