Even Zeus couldn’t get Fortnite’s Myths & Mortals season online without a major delay

You know what the Greek pantheon really needed? More gods and goddesses with guns. If that was the case, then ancient mythology classes would be far better attended.

At least Fortnite is rectifying the situation with its Myths & Mortals content update: “Pandora’s Box has been opened on the Fortnite Battle Royale Island, bringing Olympus to the battlefield. Olympian legends — including Hades and the thunder god Zeus — now rule the Island in otherworldly rage. To make matters worse, they’ve brought their powers and weapons with them. Use their mythological means against them in Chapter 5 Season 2: Myths & Mortals!”

The patch adds several legendary locations from Greek mythology such as Mount Olympus, the Grim Gate, the Underworld, and Ares’ own battleground. It also tossed in Zeus’ thunderbolt as a three-charge weapon, several new guns, and the Wings of Icarus that allows for some strategic divebombing before, naturally, your wings burn up.

Of course, the patch still isn’t up as we type this; just after 9 a.m. this morning, Epic Games tweeted that it had bumped into a problem and needed to lengthen the downtime “at least 8 additional hours,” which’d put the earliest possible return of the game and the new season at 5 p.m. EST.
