It’s nearly Splatoon 3’s two-year anniversary, and you know what that means: the final Splatfest! As part of the event, dubbed The Grand Festival, all three games’ idol groups will be performing on stage, with each one representing a different team: Squid Sisters for Team Past, Off the Hook for Team Present, and Deep Cut for Team Future.
The event isn’t until September and runs extra long, from 8 p.m. EDT on Thursday, September 12th, to Sunday the 15th at the same time. Nintendo’s also announced some other upcoming events, including this weekend’s Eggstra Work and an August Splatfest: Bread, Rice, or Pasta. That event will run August 9th to the 11th, again at 8 p.m. EDT as the start and end, but obviously it won’t have the same impact as the Grand Festival.
Note, Nintendo hasn’t explicitly said this is the final Splatfest, and it very well may not be, as the other games did randomly get events after their closure. What we do know is that this event is akin to the major one each previous Splatoon game has had for its second-year anniversary.
Readers will recall that the first Splatoon finale, Callie vs. Marie, saw the losing squid-sister appear as the boss in Splatoon 2. Splat 2’s finale, Chaos vs. Order, resulted not only with the overall theme of winning team Chaos being the focus of Splat 3, but also the finale expansion exploring the world where Order tried to take over. Major or minor, Nintendo uses player action to feed the Future (TeamFuture4Life) of the franchise, so don’t miss out!
