The Daily Grind: Do you play at the pace of your MMO — or do you push yourself?

The other day I was listening to a podcast and the host said that he tried to “play at the pace of the game,” which I thought was a lovely turn of phrase. This isn’t always the de facto standard approach to gaming in our genre because people like to speed run things, be first, be the best, and push themselves for various reasons.

I don’t judge people who like to push themselves in gaming, but for me, I really identify with “playing at the pace” of my MMOs. I set goals, but it’s not a race to achieve them. I’ve long since stopped putting in marathon sessions or trying to become the “best” at anything. I simply want to relax, game, and enjoy myself.

What type of gamer are you? Do you play at the pace of your MMOs or do you enjoy pushing yourself?

Every morning, the Massively Overpowered writers team up with mascot Mo to ask MMORPG players pointed questions about the massively multiplayer online roleplaying genre. Grab a mug of your preferred beverage and take a stab at answering the question posed in today’s Daily Grind!
