Fractured admits that it has ‘performed way below expectations,’ scales back team to just three devs

While most MMO studios are putting out positive pep talks at the start of the new year, Fractured Online has little uplifting news to share as the sandbox MMO heads into 2025. In fact, a recent letter from the lead developer — who admits to a recent “mini-burnout” — is as gloomy as it gets.

Apparently, things aren’t going well at all for Fractured: “The full release in the summer and the F2P transition in November have performed way below expectations. I will elaborate more on the whys later on, but in a nutshell: We barely had any budget to spend on marketing, and we’ve faced some serious competition this fall.”

While the MMO itself continues to go forward, Fractured had to lay off four of the seven people working on it (and the remaining three weren’t getting paid at all). “Luckily the backend is stable, so we can focus on new features, and revenues are enough to pay for servers, taxes, and a little for ourselves,” the letter said.

Dynamight said that a roadmap for the year should be coming soon and that there is continued effort “to secure new investment for the company.”
