Throne and Liberty offers a guide to its recently added rune system

You would be forgiven for thinking that a system that’s been in an MMO for just about a month would be pretty well understood by most players at this point, but just in case you’re the kind of Throne and Liberty fan who hasn’t sussed out the rune system added in December or hasn’t gotten to a level where that matters yet, Amazon Games has provided its own handy system guide to help you out.

The whole thing isn’t really rocking the boat for genre vets who have played other MMOs with a similar mechanic: Players earn runes as loot, slot them into weapons and accessories, and reap latent benefits for doing so. In T&L, runes come in three categories (attack, defense, and support), come in three color grades (white, green, and blue), and have a synergy system where specific combinations of these kinds of runes apply additional benefits. Incidentally, players will need to be mindful of the order they unlock rune slots, which costs in-game sollant currency to do.

Runes can further be strengthened by getting higher-level ones that drop in certain instanced content. Currently the most effective method is by entering challenge dungeons, which let players get white runes up to level 20 in Tier 1, green runes to level 40 in Tier 3, and blue runes to 60 in Tier 5.

That does mean that a bunch of shiny math rocks that players don’t want will inevitably clog up their inventories, but luckily there are ways to break down unwanted runes or try and get the ones they want via material transmutation. It all will likely feel familiar, but then why change a perfectly working round wheel?
