Playing Final Fantasy XIV means spending time with randos, but sometimes those randos become memorable. The characters named things like Viewing Catscene and Carfullof Whiteboys, for example. The Roegadyn man who used Mana Shift to top up my MP in Stormblood and when I thanked him immediately bellowed, “I GOT YOU BOO.” That lady who made James Bond-esque one-liners with each boss we downed. Oh, sure, these people did not later become my friends, but they sure as heck were memorable, as evidenced by the fact that I clearly remember all of them.
Far too often we remember either players who were notably bad at doing something or in some way annoying, and I don’t recommend doing that when there are, like, good reasons to remember people. Random folks who were funny or at least just weird in novel ways, right? So let me know if there are any MMO randos who still live in your brain today, and share a bit about them. Not bad players, but weird ones that you still think about! Or even just genuinely good people!
