The Daily Grind: What MMO has frustrated you the most with trading restrictions?

There appears to be a Pattern.

There’s a good reason why the rewards for the Doman Reconstruction in Final Fantasy XIV cannot be directly traded; specifically, it’s so that players don’t just toss them on market boards and make a mint or completely trivialize working on that project. That makes sense. Similarly, there’s a reason why level 80 raid gear in World of Warcraft can’t be traded, so that my alts can’t benefit from gear that dropped for my main that was farmed almost incidentally.

But darn it, sometimes I want to trade those things because the alts are the characters that can actually use this stuff.

There are good reasons for preventing players from trading certain things, but there’s also a certain irritation inherent in having something you can’t use on Character X and can’t give to Character Y. It’s equally frustrating if something is given to you by random chance which you don’t necessarily want but a friend really wants when you can’t actually trade it over. So let’s talk about that. What MMO has frustrated you the most with its item trading restrictions?

Every morning, the Massively Overpowered writers team up with mascot Mo to ask MMORPG players pointed questions about the massively multiplayer online roleplaying genre. Grab a mug of your preferred beverage and take a stab at answering the question posed in today’s Daily Grind!
