Back in March, our MMOs You’ve Never Heard Of roundup included EvilVEvil, a co-op shooter from Toadman Interactive in which players take up the role of antihero vampires tasked with slaughtering the cultists of the more evil Zagreus (hence the title). The shooter held a beta during that month, then a demo in June, but now it has fully released on Steam.
Players take up one of three characters/archetypes – Victoria the assassin, Leon the berserker, and Mashaka the sorcerer – and cleave their way through waves of enemies using a variety of vampiric powers, modern weapons, and some good ol’ fashioned neck nibbling. Players can further improve their favored bloodsucker by modifying weapons with various upgrades.
As of right now the game has garnered a “mostly positive” user score on Steam, with some reviews lancing the game’s visual style and repetitive gameplay while others find its pacing and general lack of panache refreshing. “Don’t expect a AAA experience with deep narrative. It’s just a fun game,” reads one such review. “It is what it is.”
