It’s been quite a while since any major updates have come out of the 8-bit styled sci-fi strategy MMO Pixel Starships – we wondered what was happening with it in 2021 and 2022 – but it’s back on our radar for a couple of reasons, including a large-scale update from last month and a crossover event starting this month.

We’ll begin with the September update, which introduced a new level raise of 13 for various starships in the game, alongside a wide assortment of new rooms for ships, new related level 13 missions, increased visuals for 38 existing ship rooms, and some tuning to a variety of weapons and other items.

As for the crossover, that began earlier this week and lets players hire characters from the Double Dragon games as crew members, special missions based around the beat-’em-up, and a host of cosmetics like ship skins, themed rooms, and items. The event is listed as limited-time but there are no details on just when it will all end, so if you’re looking for some punch-up in your starship management game, you’d better get to it.
