Helldivers 2 completes sweeping buffs and commits to more comms as jump-jetting Automatons menace players

Last month brought some big changes to the co-op shooter Helldivers 2, as Arrowhead Studios deployed a huge buff-granting update that brought the “power” back in firepower for many weapons and stratagems. And last week saw the studio complete its planned “60 day timeline” of updates with another patch that kept the buff party going.

The patch mostly continues the work that September’s update started in terms of adjusting weapons, enemies, and equipment, while also addressing issues that the studio didn’t have time to fix previously. The patch additionally made some finer adjustments to Automatons’ field of vision, added new functionality for several of the game’s weapons, and standardized plasma weapon behavior. It’s an overall meaty patch that fans will likely want to read through if they haven’t already.

The update is bookended by a promise to keep listening and communicating from game director Mikael Eriksson. “Your feedback regarding the Escalation of Freedom update was both insightful and vital to our improvement process. We listened, we learned, and we took action,” he writes. “As we keep building this game, we are committed to keeping the lines of communication open through regular player surveys, improved patch notes, and more frequent updates via blog posts and streams. We will also continue to expand our closed betas, to make sure we catch valuable feedback early.”

With all of the adjustments now fully settling in and the fun arguably returning to the game, players can now focus on the newest menace: jump jet-using Automatons, otherwise known as the Jet Brigade, who are clearly both threatening and marshaling players in equal measure if discussions on Reddit are any indication. The latest in-universe news post also notes the formation of a “Terminid Research Preserve.” That’s surely not going to backfire.
