The Daily Grind: Which MMO is the worst for letting you earn (rather than buy) in-game cosmetics?

No pretty for you

Every MMO on the market these days will let you slap down some money to look prettier. This, in and of itself, is fine. It’s whatever. It may not be ideal, but in a lot of games that’s one of several options for making yourself look pretty. If you can buy one outfit for every two dozen you just earn through gameplay, it’s not really a big deal.

But some MMOs are a bit more stingy and say that either you are paying us money for that outfit or you aren’t getting an outfit, darn it.

Or maybe the MMO in question has an equal number of things you can buy or earn in-game, but all the in-game stuff looks dull compared to the purchased outfits. Or all the purchased outfits are setting-inappropriate real-world outfits that have a totally different vibe.

Whatever the reason, which MMO is the worst for earning in-game cosmetics, even if it doesn’t necessarily make you want to stop playing the game?

Every morning, the Massively Overpowered writers team up with mascot Mo to ask MMORPG players pointed questions about the massively multiplayer online roleplaying genre. Grab a mug of your preferred beverage and take a stab at answering the question posed in today’s Daily Grind!
