There is no way that you can reach the level of resources held by someone who has been playing an MMORPG for two years by playing for a month. That’s just not realistic. But it is definitely possible to find yourself at least up to the point that you are taking part in the content at the current endgame for the game you are playing. Ideally that would be your goal, even! You want to be playing the current game, after all, and if it’s a new update that drew you in, you want to experience that.

Of course, there’s something to be said for that taking some time; after all, if you can just jump straight to the newest content, there’s not much reason to do the older stuff. But there’s also something to be said for being able to focus on the new thing that piqued your interest and deciding whether to go back and explore everything else later. So how long do you think it should take to get caught up with the current content in an MMO?

Every morning, the Massively Overpowered writers team up with mascot Mo to ask MMORPG players pointed questions about the massively multiplayer online roleplaying genre. Grab a mug of your preferred beverage and take a stab at answering the question posed in today’s Daily Grind!
