Elite Dangerous tunes up its Engineers beta

Elite Dangerous just updated its 2.1 beta with an absolute raft of changes and improvements. While there isn’t any single tentpole addition to the Engineers beta, overall it looks as though Frontier has improved the stability of the expansion and rebalanced a lot of its systems and weapons.

One significant change comes to how Elite will handle weapons that pump out heat as damage: “Add a resistance to heat-adding weaponry (Thermal Shock and Retributors primarily) so that the hotter the target already is the less effective they become, one or two weapons are still effective, without six to eight being totally out of the park. It should still be fairly easy (though harder) to push ships into module damage, as they start reaching hull damage diminishing returns will kick in severely. becoming immune to these effects at 300% heat or higher, preventing the 8000%+ cases we’ve seen.”

Of course, everyone wants to know about the dire shoulderpads issue, and the good news is that Frontier has finally addressed it. “Female Theocracy jacket now has military shoulderpads fixed,” the studio rejoiced.
