Datamining suggests The Division’s alpha test is en route

Dataminers on Reddit have unearthed publicly accessible but undisplayed code on The Division’s website that suggests alpha is on the way.

There’s no official announcement, but if set live, the code appears to link to what will eventually be the game’s alpha signup page.

Earlier this month, Ubisoft confirmed that The Division is still on track for a 2015 release. Last spring, developers delayed the game from 2014 to 2015, citing a desire to fully finish the game rather than shove out an incomplete concept piece. It’s being billed as an open-world online shooter with RPG elements.

eLdritchMD Zophie Winters Haha I know the feeling.  Yeah what I’ve seen of the Division so far looks like a great setting and it shows some promise, but I’m with you on waiting to see how it turns out closer to launch.  I think it’s safe to say they’ll probably do an Alpha/Beta test prior to launch like they did with The Crew, so hopefully I’ll get in on that to try it out a bit, otherwise I’ll just wait till after launch before deciding to buy in or not.

Zophie Winters eLdritchMD alright. I’ll concede on that. I’m sure a lot of my frustration with them has to do with Uplay anyway ;)

and I’ll give The Division a chance… I want that game to be good cause it looks like it has a tonne of potential. I’m just a cynical old bastard :P

eLdritchMD Zophie Winters I got The Crew on PC and it’s good.  Also their Black Flag port on PC didn’t seem lazy to me, so, to each their own.  Don’t get me wrong, Ubisoft has had their share of problems, but I think a little perspective wouldn’t hurt, it’s easy to overlook their successes when focusing on their failures (Unity launch).

Zophie Winters eLdritchMD I don’t do consoles though and their PC ports tend to be the laziest of the lazy…

eLdritchMD I dunno, I thought The Crew was pretty solid at launch.  They had some server issues periodically but nothing that really got in my way of enjoying the game at all.   Also Assassin’s Creed Rogue was pretty good on PS3.

Golden_Girl They’ll be charging $70, just like Assassin’s Creed Unity’s early access.

As Ubisoft games are so buggy in their launch state, I’m assuming that they won’t be charging for this “early access”.

Zeneren (mateuszpachnik) eLdritchMD I have read that complaint about Ubisoft, but maybe they will bring their A-game to this MMO. What other MMOs have Ubisoft developed besides The Crew?

eLdritchMD i seriously doubt that it will be enough, taking under consideration the scope of the game and knowing ubisoft level of “polish” at launch sadly.

seeing how horrendously unfinished most of Ubisoft’s games were in 2014 and seeing how there really are enough Early Access games that will never get finished I can only applaud this move ;) Let’s hope the extra time is used wisely.
