Dungeon Fighter Online returns from the dead with March 24 open beta

Dungeon Fighter Online returns from the dead this week.

The North American version of the game was shut down two years ago; then-publisher Nexon said that though the game was “immensely popular overseas,” it lacked sufficient “player interest to properly service the game” here in the west.

Developer Neople is having another go at running it here, this time without Nexon’s assistance. The studio launched alpha in May of last year. Closed beta for the new “Global” edition, says Neople’s Facebook page, begins March 24th. Neople CEO In Lee requested patience and discouraged hacking while his team transitions from development to publishing.

There’s a new teaser trailer on the new teaser website, too, and we’ve embedded it below.

punchingbugs ROFL Elsword is pay2win scrub. Go into PvP and someone with full avatars and a mana necklace has a huge advantage over someone who hasn’t spent a single penny. Not to mention you have to pay for a second skill slot and second skill page. Try again kid

Sorenthaz It’s Nexon’s own fault the NA version failed. They didn’t do shit to promote it or even keep up the content. At all. They had zero customer service, let bots run rampant, and just let the game go to shit.

“Global” Gonna guess its not IP blocked then, but will be laggy as hell beeing on a crappy NA server somewhere. :) Still, at least its a chance for me to actually be able to try the game again.

Miridia Sorenthaz Champagon mrnastybutler  Lol.  I never touched it myself.  But I get the feeling that it failed horribly if Nexon pulled it out of the US.

Now now, everyone, let’s not feed the trolls.
Also, like I mentioned before, the game isn’t out yet and its by a different group. While its likely it will be better than Nexon’s bastardization, there is still the small possibity it coukd be just as bad, maybe even worse. Lets hope for the best.

punchingbugs As unique as elsword is in a way. It’s really sort of hated right now.
-NA server pretty much messed up
-the game as a whole is way unbalanced with the classes they release
-Pretty much pay4power with the big bonuses cash shop avatars give you over people that don’t have them
-Pay money to get skill slots which i never seen in any game i played (unique isn’t always a good thing)
-pay money for more item use slots which also never seen
-NA version doesn’t have ed resets which made alot of people angry since it was in korea and everyone would of loved it
Only thing keeping people playing is nothing else really to go to like how Grandchase was before elsword was made. And people spent alot of money on characters.
Luckily DFOG, is now coming to fend off the tyranny of elsword

punchingbugs Yeah get out of here with your shit. Thanks. This is NOT in ANY way pay to win. The only thing that will remotely help you in the game is Avatars. And guess what, in Elsword, you  have to pay REAL MONEY to buy SKILL SLOTS. That’s a default option in DFO. Elsword is also dying, is extremely laggy, and the economy is fucked.
Now try that again.

kgptzac Uh yeah, because it’s not like the Korean client has this huge hacking problem, right? Right? Oh, they don’t? Because they fixed their injection problem? Oh.
