Elite Dangerous

Frontier has published a new Elite: Dangerous pilot training video focused on wings, the primary feature of yesterday’s 1.2 update. The six-minute clip tells you everything you need to know including how to find a wing, how to make your own, and how to add an existing friend to your wing regardless of your respective positions in Elite’s vast model of the Milky Way.

There’s also some crucial info about the nav lock function, which Frontier calls “one of the main features of a wing” and which basically involves auto-following your wing leader anywhere in the galaxy. Click past the cut to watch the full clip.

I prefer bounty hunting, and the patch really has improved it. This is the best patch so far.

yavozerb BalsBigBrother  the vulture is a small ship.  I believe the ship price changes made
are for combat ships only and along with the increase in bounty payouts /
combat bonds that were also made in this patch  are an attempt to make
the combat profession more balanced in keeping with the costs of doing
that type of work within the game be it as a pirate or bounty hunter.

I
have spent the last half hour or so doing some pew pew in my vulture
and have just over 100k credits in bounties to be cashed in and that is
without taking any missions.  I am not a combat pilot by any means and I
imagine the real ones will find a nice increase in their earning
nevertheless.Trading is still the best way to earn credits but
its is also not
something everyone enjoys so I expect these changes will be welcomed by a
lot of people. It might tempt me to indulge my pew pew more often too
but I really do prefer trading as its a lot more relaxing for me :-)

BalsBigBrother  wow,,just spent 17 million on my type 7, if the vulture is a large ship for 5million the game is falling apart and it would seem you don’t need to be elite just a whiner to get the best in the game.  I was working for a type 9 but it is so overpriced compared to what you can get now. the part that really sucks is that is that with that low of a price you can just sucide the ship and not worry about repair cost, that is where the cost comes into play,, replacement cost for a large ship should not be that cheap
how can  the type 9 still be 76 million then wtf it is not that much more ship than the fer de lance

Wow, I wasn’t expecting anywhere near that sort of discount, gonna start collecting them.

ooh nice the two new ships have had a price reduced. So now the Vulture is down to 5 million credits (from 21 mil) and the Fer de Lance is down to 56 million credits (from 102 mil).  Other ships have also received a price reduction too.
Will probably grab a Vulture while the price is low just in case they change their minds later but I don’t really see me flying it soon as it will still cost a few more million credits to properly fit it out and that will strain my available ready cash at this point.

You could always group up and try to hunt real players with bounties on their heads.

captainzor Ha…well, if you’re talking about the cinematic trailers, then those are a bit…overstated. They do have “Conflict Zones” which ARE giant furballs which you can jump into, pick a side to support, and the blast away at the opposition. Those usually show up in sectors where’s there’s contention between the major factions, and can be found by parsing the in-game lore news feed, GalNet, or often times by logically going where conflict might be happening (on the periphery between faction zones, for example).

cedarstreet captainzor ah ok.  i’ll keep an eye on it then, but it sounds like it’s still grindy.

What about those military-esque battle encounters they showed off in earlier trailers?
