Star Trek Online
A pair of veteran actors are joining the cast of Star Trek Online. Lisa LoCicero will be reprising her role as Lieutenant Commander Miral Paris, who joins players to fight the Iconians and their heralds in Season 10. Voyager pilot Tom Paris is coming along too, and he’s voiced by Robert McNeill.

Season 10’s Iconian War announcement trailer was released earlier today. You can view it after the break.

Maybe he’s not actually Paris, but a surgically altered Vaadwaur. :D

Somewhere along the line, STO’s writers got good – like, really, really good. The same writers who gave us the worst mission I’ve ever played in an MMO (the thankfully-removed Divide Et Impera) are now cranking out good story after good story.
The only real remnant of the launch game now is Starfleet’s Cardassian arc, which was probably the best story in the game at launch. Now it’s the worst by a wide margin. The Breen story, which was a huge breath of fresh air when it was added to the game, is now on the weaker end of the game’s episodic content as well.
STO, barely passable at launch, has grown into my favorite MMO.

It’s a Klingon character in the voiceover, yes. One of the things the game has been playing with around the main story lately is that the Klingons are especially angered by the Iconian threat.
The Federation and others are concerned and committed to resist, but the Klingons are pretty much enraged by the very idea of an Iconian invasion.

Rebel Engie Liandreth Jeri Ryan is already in the game, reprising her role as Seven.

Rebel Engie zenaphex I believe it’s supposed to be Jm’pok, the leader of the Klingon Empire.

Sounds like it’s narrated by a Klingon.

I think most people will be looking forward to Jeri Ryan, precisely allocating sufficient time for our recreational requirements!

Star Trek Online is set roughly 40 years after the last TNG film — Cryptic may be trying to suggest the passage of time with their Paris model, as they’ve done with the models for Empress Sela and Seven Of Nine’s face (Seven still has the body of a stripper, inexplicably, and still doesn’t know how to wear actual clothes, alas).
Or they could’ve just gotten the Paris model totally wrong. I have no memory of Tom Paris having an eight-foot-long pointy chin and serial-killer beady eyes either. :-)
The Voyager stuff is getting play in the game because Cryptic actually ran a large poll some time ago, asking players where they would like to see the game go next, and offering several options.
Rather to my surprise, the clear majority voted for a return to the Delta Quadrant.
I do think the voting playerbase was actually voting for “frontier exploration” within the context of Star Trek lore.
For whatever it may be worth, I can say that I’ve enjoyed Cryptic’s Delta Quadrant storytelling thus far much more than I ever enjoyed Star Trek: Voyager the series, myself.

I’ve only started to catch VOY re-runs in recent times; while the series had some excellent actors, the quality of the writing on the series put me off, personally, and I rarely watched episodes in first-run.

My opinions only, of course.

Cheers,
