Worlds Adrift gets a full gameplay trailer

Last Friday, Bossa Studios teased a trailer for its new Worlds Adrift trailer. Today, we got a look at the real deal, which turns out to be a three-minute visual journey through a sandbox title with real-time physics for thousands of simultaneous players. Worlds Adrift is set in a “universe that was destroyed by the overmining of its precious levitating material.” All that remains of the former planetary surface are thousands of floating islands which players will need to build airships to explore.

Bossa Studios bills the title as unscripted and has thus far stuck to its open PvP guns. You can view the full clip after the break.

Jacra DugFromTheEarth that’s my main concern too.  this (with some more varied range weapons) could be my dream game, except for the fact that floating islands in the air is about the same as space games.  a lot of nothing interesting to explore.

if this was set on the ground, with a normal landscape i’d be extremely excited.  i’m SORTA excited because of the mechanics but…… don’t dig the setting at all.

these guys are really laying the groundwork (airwork?) for future online games

Surprised at the amount of negativity here, I would’ve thought this would be popular on MOP.  I’m not really an indie fan but I actually think this looks interesting and somewhat unique – I like the focus on flight in general, while not making the player exist in the form of a ship/plane.  Maybe deeper Guns of Icarus?

This game just looks so pretty, and with the focus on exploration I’ll definitely be trying it. But if they were really making a game for ME, they’d add a bunch of mysteries all over the islands that needed to be solved and just get rid of the whole combat aspect entirely.

I’m worried by how tiny these islands are and how few of them. What is the point, mostly flying around because the islands barely offer anything to explore and do, even barely space to build?
Don’t get me wrong, I’m desperately waiting for some sandbox voxelish mmo (not just some small private server thing or uncurated theme wise) which has much more depth to crafting than Minecraft. But while I was exited at first I’m increasingly worrying what exactly gameplay would look like.

I have a question, maybe I missed something. If the world was torn apart from mining and these floating islands is all that is left … where does the gravity to some “down” comes from? What happens if you fall? Where do you fall to?

I’m not a fan of indie projects, but this seems like a great concept.
