Very, very early access I see… Not too hopeful tbh. Will continue to watch the development.

MJ Guthrie palejens No. I didnt miss the part where you praised the game for letting people try before they chose. Fair play to you for that.

I did however also see the rest of the stream as well.
Yes, you are “just a gamer”. A gamer that happens to write for a blog/website I, and many others come to for news about MMO`s. We value your opinion, and often what you think and say about a game decides what me, and many others, try out.

This stream is the first I have ever seen of this game. I am not an angry fanboi wanting nothing but praise for my favourite game. I felt you were unfair and, at times, passive aggressive towards the game(if that is even possible).

You did praised the game for letting people try out classes before they chose a class, but that was pretty much the only positive I could find in your stream. You didnt like the character creation, yet spent many minutes showing how bad it was. You didnt like the look of your character, even though you know the character is just a “blueprint” and will be changed countless times.  You didnt like the healing class (in fact it was the first EVER you hated), because you didnt understand how to play it? Give it time and you might learn to play it and even enjoy it?

For a game that is a “work in progress” this might be a real blow. I havent tried the game, and it might be horrible, but I dont believe in being “funny” or witty when the results of my views might be a crushing blow to future development and peoples work.

I would like you, at least when you are playing a game in EA, to see the possibilities, not the faults. You might have been doing this in your earlier streams, but I dont feel like you did that this time.

ps. did you get a new mic? The sound was a lot better this time around.

JaredBuck I totally expected bugs, and expected it to be unfinished. What I don’t quite expect is the very initial beginning that players jump into to feel unfinished.  I’d honestly expect that experience to be the most polished because first impressions really matter!

palejens Awesome that it makes you want to try it more! That’s a total win. The whole point of my going into a game for a first look is to see what exactly it would be like hopping in brand-new. That has been what I have done for years for a reason: Look at it without a bunch of preconceived notions. I show people and they are totally free to form their own opinions off what they see/don’t see.

I made it clear the game was Early Access, and  I was very open that I know much work will still be done.  I also have opinions on what could be improved when doing those development changes in EA! Would what I want ultimately matter? I am just one gamer. My opinions are just opinions. And you know what? It is perfectly fine (and in fact preferred for the health of the gaming industry) if there are games that come out which turn out to not be my favorite to play! Because other gamers have other tastes, and I want them to have tons of games to enjoy as well. It is alright for me to not love a game, just like for anyone else in the gaming community; that’s what there are so many different games to choose from.

I am thrilled the video makes you want to play more. The fact remains, I was completely fair in sharing my own personal feelings and thoughts when trying a new game, which is exactly what my streams are for. I am not now, nor will I ever be, a reviewer. I am a gamer who experiences a game and shares that experience.

JaredBuck If developers wanted feedback, charging players to test is not the most efficient way of going about it.  A better way would be to have testing weekends and free invitations to people who actually want to test.  Even though it is listed as early access the people buying into it aren’t so much looking to test the game to provide feedback but rather to play the game for enjoyment, regardless of its current state.  The reason most games are in early access is actually because they are looking to obtain the rest of their funding.

There’s a reason it’s Early Access – games in that state are mostly unfinished, and can and WILL have bugs.  What are you expecting? The reason some games now are available for EA on Steam is so the developers can get good feedback from people will potentially play the game once it’s fully released.

palejens that is how she approaches all games regardless of their state of development, blank slate with no prep.  While it may seem a little unfair for a game that isn’t “ready” it is consistent with all her other streams and isnt showing any bias one way or the other.  It is simply a first impression untainted by any outside factors.
Sorry if you don’t agree and I hope you have fun yourself in the game :-)

palejens On the other hand, a player shouldn’t have to do any “research” outside the game, be it lore or gameplay mechanics or anything else. Everything a player needs to know should be communicated by the game itself.

I am so dissappointed in MJ now.
She was negative from start to finish while streaming this.
She did next to no research before going into the game, and then tried to bash the game for not giving her enough info?

I really liked the look of the game, and MJ being negative made me want to try it more.
I dont see why she couldnt be more fair to the game though.

Not sure the devs can fix issues before official release in few months. Game looks promising but has some serious issues…
