WRUP: Card trick 74 edition

A lot.

Today’s card trick is known as the Ponzetti Reversal. It’s called this chiefly because no one ever pays too much attention to card tricks which sound like chess maneuvers, but you can be certain that your audience will be amazed unless they’re not.

First, take an ordinary deck of playing cards. Shuffle, cut the deck, and draw seven cards. Ask a participant to take a random card from those seven, but don’t look at it. Tell the participant to memorize the card. Then, return the cards to the deck. Shuffle again, draw seven more cards. Tap an island for one blue mana. Grab the bottom card on the deck and ask the participant if it’s the right card.

Get angry. Insist that it’s the right card. Fling the deck of cards at the participant’s head and inform them to find the [REDACTED] card without you, if the participant is so [REDACTED] smart. Break a window. Tell the police officers that you’re completely sober. Refuse to put your shirt back on. Slam your head against the inside of the car window. Insist you want a lawyer after hurling insults at the cops for an hour. Let us know what you’re playing in this week’s installment of What Are You Playing. Lastly, produce the correct card.

Andrew Ross (@dengarsw): Oh man, I haven’t thought much about it, beyond finally cracking open a lucky egg for Pokémon Go. So close to 34! Would love to get it before hitting the Asian American Expo. I’ll probably hit up Asheron’s Call 1 & 2 again though. I want to see if I can get my old villa back before the lights go out in AC, and I’m hoping to see the old Isin Dule vault movie in AC2 about the founding of the Shadows before the lights go out.

Brianna Royce (@nbrianna, blog): Still boring. Still sick. Still playing Trove. Built out my cornerstone last weekend, but I’m nowhere near able to get a club on my own yet, so I’m just leveling toons and trying to raise funds!

Eliot Lefebvre (@Eliot_Lefebvre, blog): Usual routine; I’ve got World of Warcraft, Final Fantasy XIV, and Lord of the Rings Online all on deck. Also, I have about a million single-player games and a book to edit. And a birthday in a week. Maybe I’ll just hide under the covers with my cats.

Justin Olivetti (@Sypster, blog): I think ARK: Survival Evolved is on the roster for me to play this weekend. Dino-riffic? I hope so! Other than that, I’m pushing hard through Rohan in Lord of the Rings Online with my Lore-master and would love to wrap up my Broken Isles Pathfinder Part 1 in World of Warcraft.

MJ Guthrie (@MJ_Guthrie, blog): I am so excited to be home and able to play my games again that I am not even sure where to start! I’m totally going to go in and snuggle all of the dinosaurs in ARK. Those carnos and mosas are just so cuddly, ya know? I will also be puttering around the latest Shards Online Alpha, checking things out. Then, I’ll be wandering around Landmark trying to commit everything to memory and maybe even capturing as many builds and adventures as possible on video and in screenshots.

Your turn!
