Overwatch gives love to old heroes and reveals Brigitte in new origin video

But who will her girlfriend be?

Yesterday’s Overwatch patch was all about the love — at least, if you care about Mei, Sombra, and Doomfist. The three characters each got a buff to an ability or two, with Mei’s freeze extending by a half-second, Doomfist’s hand cannon recovering ammo more quickly, and Sombra’s ultimate ability shifting over to damage done and her hack skill improving to affect more enemy moves.

“The goal of these changes for Sombra is to remove the necessity for her teammates to take damage and heal themselves with her hacked heath packs to try to get her ultimate charged up quickly,” Blizzard said. “Her ultimate will now come up less often, but there are more abilities that are disabled by Hack so it is more effective when used.”

Looking ahead, however, you’d better get used to a brand-new toon: Brigitte Lindholm, daughter of Torbjörn and defensive toon, now playable on the test server.

“No longer sitting on the sidelines, Brigitte Lindholm has taken up arms to defend those in need of protection. The daughter of weapons designer, Torbjörn Lindholm, Brigitte was the first of his children to show an interest in mechanical engineering. Brigitte spent much of her spare time in her father’s workshop, learning the trade and honing her skills. Her aptitude for engineering mirrored that of her father’s, but Brigitte’s primary interest was in armor fabrication and defensive systems, unlike Torbjörn, who was world renowned (and perhaps infamous) for the weapons he created.

“Brigitte specializes in armor and defense. She can throw Repair Packs to heal teammates, or automatically heal nearby allies when she damages foes with her Flail. Her Flail is capable of a wide swing to strike multiple targets, or a Whip Shot that stuns an enemy at range. When entering the fray, Barrier Shield provides personal defense while she attacks enemies with Shield Bash. Brigitte’s ultimate ability, Rally, gives her a substantial short-term boost of speed and provides long-lasting armor to all her nearby allies.”

Really love the design of her kit and abilities. First time I’ve been tempted to give Overwatch a twirl.

I play mainly tanks and supports. Knowing that there is a character coming up that will basically play as a Warrior Priest from WAR excites me greatly!

I’m in the same boat. I love playing Reinhardt, and Tjorb was my dps guy when I was newer, so her kit and story are super appealing!

I adore the theme of this character. I haven’t been this excited for a character since launch with Symmetra. It’s great that we saw her in a comic and animated short, and she is now part of the playable roster.

I like the hybrid nature of her toolkit mixing in healing, shielding and crowd control. I particularly am fond of shielding as a mechanic for support in games since it’s not as common as straight up healing.

Same, I really like this character. I played around using her on the PTR and she’s pretty fun. I usually play support and see myself choosing her often.

A melee character with speed boost, armor, and a stun. Sounds fun, hopefully break some choke points.
