The final Sea of Thieves developer update of 2018 has arrived, and just like every other studio at this time of year, Rare is using it as an opportunity to look back on the past 12 months and get hyped for what’s to come in the new year. As always, the video is hosted by Executive Producer Joe Neate, who waxes nostalgic about how far Sea of Thieves has come since its release in March of this year.
Although the early days of the game were hectic as the devs scrambled to fix bugs and make sure everything got running smoothly, Neate emphasizes that they eventually overcame those hurdles, and now the environment around the studio is one of pure excitement as the team works on bringing even more content to the game. Players can expect new content for both the open-world exploration and the arena portions of the game in the early parts of 2019, with more to come beyond that as well. You can check out the full dev update video for yourself just below, and if that’s not enough Sea of Thieves goodness for you, you can also catch a recording of Neate speaking at the Fun & Serious Game Festival about the challenges of bringing Sea of Thieves’s unique brand of multiplayer to life.
