Anyone remember Mankind Reborn? It’s a cyberpunk sandbox MMO that looks to be a spiritual successor to the sunsetted Face of Mankind; we touched on it in March of this year in one of our roundups. Up to this point, things have been pretty quiet on the sandbox’s development front, but that has very definitely changed.
For a start, the head of the project has stated that Mankind Reborn now has a bigger budget, which means new devs can be hired to make the sandbox MMO closer to a reality. That reality starts with Union City 2.0, which will be the primary test bed for everything from PvE content to player apartments to events. The new area also features some new tech to improve optimization and reduce stress on lower-end machines.
The blog post also details a huge variety of new and updated gameplay features: There’s a first pass at in-world real estate that will let players purchase apartments or storage spaces, an overhaul of the interaction system, a number of updates to the MMO’s backend, improvements to weapon accuracy, and item slot optimizations, among a number of other changes.
Finally, the dev blog closes with a roadmap to alpha, which outlines goals for the game’s next three updates that will lead to a projected alpha test in the first or second quarter of 2020. There’s a lot of detail in the dev blog, so take a moment to read through.
