Bonus question: How loud do you tend to listen to music?
Andy McAdams: I’m petering out a little bit on The Elder Scrolls Online; I’ll still login to get my daily rewards and probably putz around a little bit. I realized last weekend that Oxygen Not Included is a fun game that I find super engaging that also has a tendency to make me more stressed than when I started. I also feel like I need a project plan to play effectively, and I don’t need that much excel in my life. Outside of that, I fired up My Time at Portia again, and I’m flirting with trying out the incredibly intimidating Dwarf Fortress because… well, it seems like fun. In an ASCII kinda way.
Bonus Question: 90% of the time I’m a “listen at a comfortable volume where I can still have a conversation,” because some people would say I have trouble shutting up. But there are certain songs that if my windows aren’t rattling, things have gone horribly wrong someplace.
Brianna Royce (@nbrianna, blog): Yep, glad to see the back of [January], this week especially. It has been a rough one for my family, but we’re all coming out at the end still OK. I’ll be in Star Wars Galaxies Legends this weekend. I switched back to my architect for a bitsy to crank out some factories and buildings to replenish my stock. I had gone half a year or so there where those items weren’t selling, but they’ve taken off in the last few weeks as the pop has spiked. Welcome, little nooblings, to SWG!
Music, depends whether it’s on in the background or whether I’m actively listening to something new. To be honest, I don’t love having any noise in the background when I’m working. I usually prefer quiet to concentrate. But in the car? Crank it up until the metal hums and let’s sing.
Chris Neal (@wolfyseyes, blog): I am ready for a long series of naps myself. Maybe some chicken tenders. Also, I’ll be peeking in on some Gunbreaker leveling in Final Fantasy XIV and probably not much else.
I usually play music on headphones, so volume is really not an issue since everyone and everything else is drowned out. Which means I can play it pretty loud.
Eliot Lefebvre (@Eliot_Lefebvre, blog): Some FFXIV and quite possibly some Star Trek Online; kinda want that anniversary ship. I’m also still on a Fire Emblem kick and have some stuff to review, so that’ll fill up two days.
My general preference for music is loud, even if it’s the more gentle tones. Then again, these days I generally don’t like to work with music on all that much. But when I’m driving…
Justin Olivetti (@Sypster, blog): I’m diving deep into Neverwinter lately with my Chaos Warlock and having a terrific time, especially now that I’m figuring out a few of its more obscure systems. I also mean to get into Control, which has been sitting in my Steam library since the first of the year.
Mia DeSanzo (@neschria): January can kiss my big box of instant grits. Can we just agree to call it a practice month and start over now? Star Trek Online is my plan for the weekend. I might also stream some No Man’s Sky permadeath if I can get my technical issues sorted out. (Spoiler: I permadie a lot.)
I used to listen to a lot of loud music, but I tend to turn it down now that I am old. And now that I live in a townhouse. Sometimes I do turn it up in the car. Some music demands it.
Tyler Edwards: Warcraft III: Reforged is my focus for the moment, but I may also find some time for the anniversary event in Star Trek Online.
Bonus question: Depends on the song. Usually I keep things to a reasonable level (on my MP3 player I’ve never turned the volume up past halfway) but some songs just need to be cranked up. Give It Up by Efflo needs to be played at window-rattling volumes. It’s the law.
