It’s purple. It’s wiggly. It likes to laugh at you when you’re in the fight. It’s Thrax, the capstone Behemoth that was added in Dauntless’ Call of the Void update, and now the folks at Phoenix Labs are offering fans a closer look at its creation.

Much like the video that offered a peek at the creation of Torgadoro, this video offers some insight into the development of Thrax, including some peeks at concept art that showed that it was apparently designed to be a big moth creature at some point. Also, as one would expect, rigging the monster to be as wriggly and thrashy as it is took a lot of work.

In other Dauntless news, the game is slowly inching towards the Clear Skies update on Thursday, July 30th, which brings a rework of the sword weapon and a new set of Hunt Pass cosmetics among other things. The game’s roadmap has also been recently updated with a Linked Slayers system that grants friends who play together for seven days a free cosmetic item, a new series of story-focused missions, and the addition of sky fishing, which is seeing its release pushed back.
